Published by Safflower Music LLC (A0.508564). This cool, bluesy jazzy etude doubles as a sample improvisation in the solo piano style, incorporating quintessential bebop vocabulary. This study is great for the intermediate pianist looking to develop skills in the areas of sight-reading, technique, and artistry. —by Sarah Jane Cion, Winner of the 1999 Great American Jazz Piano Competition and author of MODERN JAZZ PIANO REVEALED An Intermediate Guide to Jazz Concepts, Improvisation, Technique & Theory Sarah Cion, an extraordinary pianist, has given us a wonderful collection of Etudes that appeal to all music lovers, both classical and jazz teachers and students. They are pianistically well written for the hand and truly enjoyable to play and listen to. My students love them!—Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee

SAB choir (With Optional Full Orchestra) - SKU: LX.65-1964L A Christmas Choral Celebration. Composed by Douglas E. Wagner and Lloyd Larson. Choral Cantatas. Christmas. 92 pages. Exaltation Publications #e65/1964L. Published by Exaltation Publications (LX.65-1964L). UPC: 000308098389.Joy is a pervading theme throughout the Bible. In the midst of Old Testament Israel's despair was the eternal promise of joy: They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. (Ps. 126:5) Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Ps. 30:5b) A new day of joy did eventually dawn as reflected in the angelic proclamation to Judean shepherds near Bethlehem: I bring you good news of great joy! For to you is born this day a Savior, Christ the Lord. (Lk 2:10-11) This cantata, a collaborative work by Lloyd Larson and Douglas E. Wagner, presents the Christmas message in a fresh and powerful blending of familiar carols with new texts and tunes. Scripturally-based narration along with optional congregational participation makes this truly a joyous worship experience for the Christmas celebration. Performance time: approximately 35 minutes.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - SKU: A0.876417 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Joe Procopio. Baroque,Jazz. Score and parts. 42 pages. JoeCopio Music LLC #2032001. Published by JoeCopio Music LLC (A0.876417). THE BACH JAZZ SONATA FROM THE 3RD MOVEMENT OF THE FLUTE/VIOLIN SONATA II IN Eb* FOR Eb INSTRUMENTS Arr. By Joe Procopio These arrangements by Joe Procopio from J.S. Bach’s Flute/Violin Sonata II in Eb are special in many ways. Firstly, it fills the need for the very best in music combining the genres of both Classical and Jazz. In addition, it is also importantly unique because it may be performed by a variety of musicians. For example, the arrangement in C may be performed by 2 or more C Instruments including Flute, Piccolo, Oboe and Violin with a small band accompaniment (Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums - Guitar is optional). The work may also be performed with just the Piano and/or Guitar for accompaniment. What’s more, the Rhythm Track Accompaniment is available without the solo instruments adding to the already many attributes of this music that enhance its inherent genuine global appeal. This is critical because teachers, students and musicians worldwide are constantly seeking music of the highest quality that can be skillfully presented to the public while having, at the same time, built-in qualities both pleasing to the listener and the performer alike. Bach’s melodies have certainly stood the test of time and Jazz is without question internationally popular. That makes these arrangements truly worthy of attention from people, artists and publishers throughout the world. The composer personally has had great success with this work in many major concerts including its premier performance using a Flute Choir at a Civic Center Concert held in Syracuse, NY before several thousand people who triumphed the young musicians with a standing ovation. The melody by J.S. Bach used in this work is taken from the Bach-Gesellschaft Ausgabe Band 9 and 1 Kammermusik BWV 1031- known as the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach which was published in 46 volumes from 1851-1899. A single volume was issued in 1926. The last surviving editor of the series died in 1928, and these volumes are now public domain worldwide. They are also held in acclaim because there are no articulation or expression marks in the Gesellshaft. Therefore, the articulation and expression marks written in these arrangements by the arranger are suggestions only. Musicians may perform the works in any manner best suited to the betterment of their own performance.

Small Ensemble Flute,Harpsichord,Mandolin,Piano,Violin - SKU: A0.1017681 Composed by Gordon Jackson. Celtic,Classical,Folk,Irish,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 6 pages. Gordon Jackson #6439147. Published by Gordon Jackson (A0.1017681). The Western HeightsThis is a little piece I composed without a specific form in mind. Although it’s in 3/4 it’s neither courante nor galliard, waltz nor minuet. It just is. Unusually for me, the chordal accompaniment is written for harpsichord (or any keyboard instrument), in order to get the full arpeggiation not possible on my octave mandola or bouzouki. The Western Heights, in Dover, used to be a really fun place to go; a barracks inter alia for a French invasion that never quite happened. Miles of tunnels built into a mountainside with rotten drawbridges, very steep stone staircases and plenty of rats. I used to climb inside and spend hours wandering around in the dark stumbling over debris, squeezing through narrow gaps, climbing walls. It’s been taken over now by various doers of good and made ‘safe’. I think you have to pay to get in. Back in the day one could be Indiana Jones for a while and have a truly great time.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1282697 By Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto. By Antonio Carlos Jobim, Norman Gimbel, and Vinicius De Moraes. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Jazz,Latin,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #873912. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1282697). This is my (Thomas Gunther) Piano Solo Arrangement of the famous Brazilian song The Girl From Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim. The Girl From Ipanema is such a beautiful song that I thought it would be nice to write a piano solo arrangement for it, so that non-jazz pianists can play it too. This said, I am convinced that many jazz musicians will find this arrangement interesting and maybe even challenging, when performed exactly as written. It could also serve them as a blueprint for how to arrange samba tunes for solo piano. If there is one song that comes to mind when thinking about Brazilian music, it is probably this song. For most Jazz musicians it is the ultimate bossa nova standard.I truly hope you enjoy this arrangement! And should you be a piano teacher, this arrangement is a great way to introduce your students to Brazilian music, speaking from my own experience.

Published by KeySynth Studios (A0.857915). Unanimously recognized as one of the greatest songs of the 20th century, Over the Rainbow combines a wonderfully emotional melody with a powerfully yearning text to create a truly great piece of music. This arrangement for flute and piano creates an inspiring rendition of this classic as the lilting lines of the flute are combined with the harmonic strength of the piano. Keys: F-major, Ab-major. Duration: Approximately 3:45.

Small Ensemble Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - SKU: A0.748745 Arranged by Lin Yizhi Ernest. 20th Century. Score and parts. 10 pages. Lin Yizhi Ernest #6609931. Published by Lin Yizhi Ernest (A0.748745). Debussy's The Girl with the Flaxen Hair is an endearing piece and a great introduction to the musical world of Debussy. Every piano player would most probably be familiar with this piece, but not necessarily wind players. However, with this arrangement for Wind Quintet, the expressive voices of this piano piece are further explored by the colours of the Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon. The opening solo is deliberately given to the flute, paying homage to another iconic piece of Debussy's, Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, which opens with a lower register flute solo starting with the same note Db.Conscious decisions were also made to give the phrases in bars 12-13 and 15-16 with larger melodic spreads to the Clarinet, whose expressive qualities across these ranges suit these phrases particularly well. The revisiting of the theme in bar 28, this time in a higher register, was deliberately given to the Oboe and not the flute (not every high register melodies needs to be assigned to the flute). Oboe's higher registers, when played delicately to the point of almost struggling to hang on to the higher notes, suit the sweetness (tre doux) of the solo passage particularly well. Not to forget the characteristic Debussy harmonies that is fully supported and suited to be powered by the French Horn and Bassoon. These lower voices provide the harmonic engine that powers this unmistakable Debussy sound.Truly, this arrangement is a challenge and masterclass in tone colour for the Wind Quintet that demands a simultaneous homogeneity, as well as balance that brings out the Debussy sound, yet allowing each of the characteristics of the Wind instruments to shine through.

Mezzo-soprano voice and piano - Medium - SKU: MQ.8460-3E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. Secular, 21st century. 3 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8460-3E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8460-3E). English. The poetry of Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) is especially appealing due to the wide range of topics, diversity of mood and peculiar imagination of the poet. The writings are reflective, passionate, witty, sensuous, observant, and ridiculously humorous. Her heart soars. Her mind pokes fun! Emily was truly a New Englander. Her poems are understated and compact. Her love of Nature focuses on small things- birds, bees, meadows and a pond.In creating the musical settings, the composer (herself a New Englander) endeavored to capture the spirit of the poetry, and of the poet, with songs diverse in style, and concise in form. Everything from romance to frogs is explored, briefly.Great delight is taken in creating musical translations of the colorful imagery: the letters floating off on the breeze (My Letter to the World); the shimmering moonlight (The Moon and the Sea); a frog croaking in a bog (The Frog in the Bog); hopeful birds hopping about (Hope with Feathers); the boat of passion riding the waves and then settling into its mooring (Passion); the ship's cannon firing in celebration (Joy); and the tiniest, lightest gifts of Nature (All I Have to Bring). These are the poet's Letters to the World. She lived as a recluse, yet her words took flight-traveling the universe as messengers of the soul. Duration: 14:00.

Trumpet Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1018953 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 1 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078693. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018953). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.
